Shane Macomber

Shane Macomber is a talented and multifaceted local photographer, now offering private lessons through Alpine Arts Center.

A note from Shane:

At my absolute core, I am a family man. My relationships with my wife (Lindsay), son (Dax) and daughter (Ani) are my most cherished experiences of this life. The honest images I have taken that visually communicate these experiences inspire me and are truly why I do what I do. Becoming a father and documenting these honest family moments have taught me everything about photography.

However, my journey with photography began on a road trip from Upstate NY to the west coast when I was 19 years old. Photographing and immersing myself in National Park after National Park, I discovered a level of drama in the light I had never witnessed before…and just like that, I was hooked for life. After graduating art school with a degree in photography, I landed a job as a photojournalist with the Vail Daily. It was over the course of the 5 years there that I learned how to tell a good story with my images. I now use that visual storytelling ability as a documentary wedding photographer. I’m entering my 11th season, and between my clients and my personal work I could not be more fulfilled as an artist.

I want to teach others how to get started in photography, figure out how to find their voice as a photographer, or even overcome technical struggles so they can focus on the art and what they want to communicate with it.

To schedule photography lessons, email us here (please list your name, contact info, date(s) available, and what you are hoping to get out of the lesson). Someone from Alpine Arts Center will be in touch to schedule.
